Draw an Exquisite Corpse

This surrealist art exercise is a creative way to make a unique experience with your date. At the end, you’ll have some surreal monster drawings to marvel at and put on your fridge!

Exquisite corpse was created by surrealists to expand our imaginations and stimulate creativity.

All you need are a couple sheets of paper and something to draw with. Pen or pencil is fine, but bonus points if you have crayons, colored pencils, or any other kind of artistic implements.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Fold your piece of paper into 3 sections. This makes a spot for you to draw the head, torso, and feet.

Step 2: You each take a piece of paper draw a head. Only use the top section. And don’t peek at each other’s work! Once you’re done, extend the neck lines slightly into the next section.

Step 3: Now, fold the paper so that the head is not showing and trade with your date. Draw a torso, extending the lines that your partner made.

Step 4: Trade again and draw some feet!

Step 5: Finally, reveal your creations.

For variety and mystery, you can use even more than 2 papers and shuffle in between so that even you don’t know which paper is which. Or find some friends and make it a double date!
